Eagles Have Good Showing at Rocket Invitational

TOLEDO, Ohio —The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team paced the way at the Rocket Hidden Duals in Toledo this past weekend. The Eagles posted a 23-4 record over the two day event against Toledo, Detroit and Valparaiso.

The Eagles opened up the first day of singles mathces taking five of six from the University of Detroit Mercy. Aditi Krishnan (Merkhem,Onterio-Canada/Markvile Secondary School), Vanessa Frankowski (Stuttgart, Germany-Albertus Magus Gymnasium), Cathrina Bestahorn (Ebenhausen, Germany-Iching Gymnasium), and Laura Fernandez (La Vega, Dominican Republic-Colegio Inmaculada Concepcion) all posted straight set victories. On day two of the singles matches, the Eagles were led by Bestahorn and Fernandez, both winning in straight sets and helping the Eagles post a 9-3 singles record.

The doubles teams of Yana Parfenyuk (Ominsk, Russia-School #64)/Frankowski, Bestahorn/Krishnan, and Flavia Micati (Rio de Janerio, Brazil-Cejo Terejopolis RJ)/Fernandez won three matches each over the two day event to post a perfect 9-0 doubles record for the tournament.

Eastern will travel to Kalamazoo, Mich. Thursday, Oct. 19, for the ITA Regionals.
