YPSILTANIT, Mich. — Both the Eastern Michigan University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams emerged victorious in their Mid-American Conference opener upending Ohio, Oct. 27, at Jones Natatorium. The men’s squad won, 161-69, to improve its streak to 44 straight MAC dual meet victories, while the women’s score was 153-90.

The men’s team (1-1, 1-0 MAC) won ten of the meet’s 13 events including the first nine. Dan Wohl placed first in the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly events, while his younger brother Adam (Wohl) won the 200-yard breaststroke. Jason Piercey (1000-yard freestyle), Ethan Crabtree (50-yard freestyle), Jeff Montague (200-yard IM), Matt Guinan (one-meter diving), Derick Roe (100-yard freestyle), Donald Ellison (200-yard backstroke), and the 200-yard medley relay team of Ryan Fulkerson, Chris Meyers, Andrezej Olesinski and Roe all finished first.

The women’s squad (1-0, 1-0 MAC) won all but two of the day’s 13 events. 2006 MAC Swimmer of the Year Madeleine Pilchard paced the Eagle attack with first place finishes in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle races, while anchoring the winning 800-yard freestyle relay with Steph Cholyk, Alissa Ricard and Hannah Burandt.
