CLEVELAND, Ohio—Eastern Michigan University redshirt freshman quarterback Andy Schmitt (St. John's, Mich.-St. John's) and Western Michigan University quarterback Ryan Cubit have been named Mid-American Conference West Division Co-Offensive Players of the Week for outstanding efforts in their team's wins last weekend, Oct. 21.

Schmitt accounted for 258 yards in total offense, completing 17-of-27 passes for 198 yards and rushing 18 times for 62 yards, to help lead EMU to a 17-13 MAC win at home Saturday, Oct. 21. The 6-foot-3 1/2 inch, 221-pound Schmitt also directed the final offensive drive of the game that resulted in a touchdown to give the Eagles the four-point win, their first of the season against six setbacks. Cubit completed 20-of-24 passes for 291 yards and three touchdowns in Western's 41-27 win over Ball State Saturday.

The two quarterbacks will go head-to-head this weekend when Eastern travels to Kalamazoo Saturday, Oct. 28, for a 3:30 p.m. game against Western Michigan. The game is scheduled to be televised live on Comcast Local.
