Women's Tennis Topples Detroit, 7-0

DETROIT - The Eastern Michigan University women's team shutout inter-state foe University of Detroit, 7-0, for its first victory of the season here at the Franklin Racquet Club in Detroit, Mich. With the win, the Eagles are 1-1 on the season while the Titans fall to 3-3. The victory was also the first career win for first-year EMU Head Coach Craig Capelli.
Eastern came out from the start to take control of the match and never looked back as the Eagles swept all three matches in doubles competition.
During singles play, sophomore Aditi Krishman (Merkhem, Onterio-Canada-Markville Secondary School) continued her fast start notching her second victory of the year at the No. 3 singles position with a 6-3, 6-0 straight set victory of Detroit’s Amy Inman. Sophomore Elizabeth Syrova (Montreal, Quebec-Ecole Secondaire Jean XXIII Dorval) dropped the first set at the No. 1 spot to the Titans' Annie Moore but responded to take the last two sets to secure a hard-fought victory, 3-6, 6-1, 1-0 (3). The Eagles also tallied victories at No. 2, 4, 5 and 6 spots only losing a combined seven games in eight sets of play.
EMU is not in action until Feb. 17 and 18, when the Eagles hit the road for a pair of road dual matches against Evansville and Indiana State respectively. Both matches are scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
