Graduated in 1985...Outstanding baseball player at Eastern Michigan University from 1977-80 and earned four varsity letters...Started in right field for four consecutive years for EMU...Helped lead the 1978 then-Hurons to a 36-27 overall record, a Mid-American Conference championship and a spot in the NCAA Mid-East Regional Tournament...Named first-team All-MAC in 1978 and 1980 and was a second-team All-MAC pick in 1979...Chosen first-team All-Mid-East Regional in 1978 and 1980...Finished with four state of Michigan baseball records when he graduated, including state career records for home runs (28), rbi (155), hits (228) and total bases (366)...Established eight career and one single-game game at EMU when he graduated, including career marks for games played (235), at bats (717), hits (228), home runs (28), total bases (366), rbi (155), doubles (33) and runs scored (140)...Tied a single-season home run record with 11 in 1980...Served as captain of the 1980 EMU team...Selected as the baseball team’s representative for EMU Athlete of the Year in 1979...Earned Class A All-State honors and was the Monroe County Player of the Year as a senior at Monroe High School in 1976...Chosen in the 23rd round of the 1979 Major League Baseball Draft by the Detroit Tigers but elected to return to EMU for his senior year...Drafted in the 20th round of the 1980 Major League Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers and went on to play two seasons in the minor leagues before returning to EMU as a graduate assistant baseball coach in 1982-83 season...Selected to the All-Star team in the Pioneer Rookie League for the Lethbridge Dodgers in the summer of '80.
