Outstanding track athlete... Named the Outstanding Athlete at the 1952 Interstate Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) championships after winning the 440-yard dash, finishing second in both the 220-yard dash and the 120-yard low hurdles and anchoring the winning mile relay team... Tried out for the 1952 Olympic Games, just missing qualifying for the U.S. team after a fifth-place finish in the 440-yard hurdles in the Olympic Trials... Became a noted educator and pioneer in the field of adult post-secondary education.
