Graduated in 1961...Was an outstanding track and cross country runner for EMU... Earned All-America honors in both track and cross country in 1960...Captured first place in all five cross country dual meets in 1960...Won the Interstate Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) cross country title in 1960...Finished runner-up in the 1960 National AAU Cross Country Championships...Won the state of Michigan AAU cross country crown in 1960...Held EMU records in the one- and two-mile runs...After graduation he returned to his native country of Finland and owned and operated a sporting goods business before passing away in 1999...Served Finland as an assistant Olympic track coach in 1968, 1972 and 1976.
