Outstanding baseball player for EMU from 1970-72...Starting first baseman on the 1970 EMU Team that won the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Championship and was a named to the All-Tournament Team...Finished his EMU baseball career as the leader in RBIs (86), was second in total bases (231), second in doubles (22) and first in putouts (862)...Graduated from the Bill Kinnamon Umpire School in 1977 and went on to become a professional baseball umpire...Spent 21 years as an American League umpire in Major League Baseball before retiring in 2000...Umpired in the 1990 and 1999 Major League Baseball World Series...Worked the 1984 and 1994 Major League Baseball All-Star games and also served as an umpire in the 1995, 1997, 1999 and 2000 American League Division Series and in the 1986, 1991 and 1996 American League Championship series...Started a new company, Major League Music-Compact Disc Juke Boxes with locations in 10 states...Played on four national championship baseball teams during his high school and college playing careers.
