Lettered in baseball and football... Signed a professional baseball contract with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1950 and played on the Class A and AAA level for five seasons...Began teaching at the Roosevelt Laboratory School in 1951 and coached football, basketball, and baseball... His Roosevelt teams won the first basketball championship in 23 years... Started playing badminton at the age of 34 and became one of the top age-group players in the nation, finishing runner-up at the nationals at 40, and was a national champion at the age of 50... Held two United States singles titles, one mixed double crown and two Canadian National Titles... Ranked among the top three Masters badminton players.
