Outstanding sprinter on the EMU men's track team from 1972-75... Won the 100-meter dash at the 1975 NCAA outdoor Championships... Won the 60-meter dash at the 1975 NCAA Indoor Championships... During the 1975 seasons he won the Mid-American Conference outdoor 100-yard dash title, the Central Collegiate Conference outdoor 100-yard dash title, and the 60-yard and 300-yard dashes at the CCC indoor Championships... Also won the National AAU 60-yard dash indoors in 1973 over Michigan State University star Herb Washington and the U.S.S.R.'s Valery Borzov... Ran in Europe during the summer of 1973 and went undefeated... Claimed the title as the "World's Fastest Human" after winning the Gold Medal in the 100-meter dash at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal for his native country of Trinidad-Tobago... After winning the Olympic Gold Medal, he was honored by Trinidad-Tobago with a DC-9 jetliner named in his honor. His country also gave him the Trinity-Cross, the highest national award given to a civilian... Also had his likeness placed on a postage stamp by his country... Honored by the EMU Board of Regents when they proclaimed Oct. 9, 1976, "Hasely Crawford Day".
