One of the all-time EMU basketball players... Led EMU to the 1971-72 final four in the NCAA College Division Tournament, average29.5 points and 15.3 rebounds on the season... In his two-year career he scored 1,044 points and hauled down 562 rebounds... Named first-team NCAA-College Division All-America by United Press International in 1971-72...Named first-team NCAA-College Division All-America by the National Basketball Coaches Association in 1971-72... Went on to star in both the American Basketball Association (ABA) and the National Basketball Association (NBA)... Named to the NBA Hall of Fame in 1996... Selected as one of the top 50 players in NBA history... Named the NBA Player of the Year in 1977-78... Scored more than 25,000 points during his NBA career and was named a first-team NBA All-Star six times in his career... EMU retired his No.24 jersey at a special ceremony, Jan. 17, 1986, the first men's basketball jersey retired in school history.
