Earned eight varsity letters, four in track, two each in football and basketball... Ran a :48.7 quarter-mile split to help his medley relay team defeat Iowa at the 1926 Drake Relays... Named All-MIAA in the 440-yard dash in 1926 and was third in the state... Went on to develop outstanding high school track teams at Detroit Cooley High School over a 30-year span... His Cooley teams won city outdoor track titles in 1938, 1939, 1943, 1944, 1946, and 1947... Also coached Cooley to five cross country titles and three indoor crowns... Later coached high school golf and led the team to three titles... Served on the Livonia School Board.
