Eagles Picked Tied for Fourth in MAC Preseason Poll

Kent State picked to finish first

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team was picked to finish tied for fourth in the Mid-American Conference according to the league's head coaches, the conference office announced Friday, Jan. 6.

The Eagles finished sixth at last year's MAC Championships posting a team score of 192.425. The Green and White return 16 gymnasts from 2011 and welcome eight freshman for the upcoming season.

Kent State has been selected as the preseason favorites coming into the 2012 campaign. The Golden Flashes are looking to repeat the high standards the program set in 2011, making their first-ever appearance at the NCAA Championships.

Central Michigan was picked second to compete with Kent State for the top spot. Western Michigan was picked third, while Ball State, Eastern Michigan, and Northern Illinois all tied for fourth in the preseason poll. Bowling Green rounded out the coaches poll being picked seventh.
