YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The E-Gridiron Group (EGG) is expanding its horizons and everyone is invited to be part of the future.

Launched nearly three years ago as a way for former Eastern Michigan University football players to re-connect with the University’s football program, the organization has expanded to embrace the entire EMU community, including all alumni, fans, business partners and anyone interested in supporting the program on a yearly basis.

Memberships for former EMU football players will continue to be offered on the following levels: walk-on (free), starter ($100), MVP ($250), All-Conference ($500) and All-American ($1,000). Memberships for EMU parents, fans and friends will be available at starter ($100), MVP ($250), All-Conference ($500) and All-American ($1,000).

One of the highlights of membership will be access to the EGG tailgate tent which features all-you can eat food and beverages provided by the Bistro Bar & Grill. The tailgate will be conveniently located just outside the main entrance of Rynearson Stadium. Membership will be available for sale at the tailgate at the home opener against Army, Sept. 5, beginning at 5 p.m. For more information on joining the E-Gridiron Group and to learn about the additional benefits of the above levels, contact EMU Associate Athletic Director Craig Fink at 734.487.8236 or visit EMUEaglesFootball.com.

“If you want to be a member of something special, then we want you to be part of the E-Gridiron Group,” EGG President Brett Petersmark said. “The expanded membership of fans and alumni will assist new Head Football Coach Ron English provide the football program with the best resources needed to build a successful team.”

The EGG has also initiated a “Community Spirit” award that will be presented each year at the Football team awards banquet. This award will recognize the fan who shows true passion for EMU Football and best represents the spirit of the EGG, encompassing much more than just financial support.

“I am excited and proud to be here at EMU as the head football coach,” English said. “We have assembled a tremendous staff of coaches that will work relentlessly toward one end — building a championship football program, both on and off the field. The E-Gridiron Group , through its efforts to embrace the entire EMU football community, is a critical part of our efforts.”

The E-Gridiron Group was formed in the spring of 2006 with its early focus set on building a leadership level of fund-raising support for EMU football. Over the past three years, the EGG has contributed more than $700,000 to the program, the largest amount of gifts received to date for a non-facility related project by a single group in EMU Athletics history. This has helped to provide the football program with numerous upgrades and is helping to level the playing field with the rest of the Mid-American Conference.

“The E-Gridiron Group has been an invaluable resource for the football program and our student-athletes,” said Director of Athletics Dr. Derrick Gragg. “Our mission is to guide, support and inspire our student-athletes in their pursuit of excellence, academically, athletically and socially. The generosity and efforts of the EGG allows us to fulfill that mission and has a direct and significant impact on the quality of experience we are able to provide to our football players.”

“One of the purposes of forming the E-Gridiron Group was to fill a void and create a rallying point for former football players and EMU supporters,” said Petersmark, E-Gridiron Group President. “The EGG provides an opportunity for people to have an immediate impact on the football program by giving back, helping to build positive momentum, and really allows them to share in the growth and success of the football program and the University. We have heard time and time again from the team and coaching staff how much they appreciate our support and how important the EGG’s contributions have been in their pursuit of a MAC Championship.”
