EMU Football Picked to Finish Fourth in MAC West

EMU opens the 2018 campaign Friday, Aug. 31, at home against Monmouth
DETROIT, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University football team was picked to finish fourth in the Mid-American Conference West Division today, July 24, in the league's preseason poll. The poll was announced at the conference's annual MAC Football Media Day at Ford Field and was determined by members of the league's media members.
The Eagles received 67 points, finishing ahead of Central Michigan (58) and Ball State (34). Northern Illinois was selected to win the West Division with 133 total points, followed by defending MAC Champion Toledo (125), Western Michigan (87) and then EMU.
In the East Division, Ohio was selected first with 140 total points ahead of Buffalo with 121 total points. Miami finished third with 95 points, followed by defending East Division champion Akron with 74 points, then Bowling Green (58) and Kent State (25).
Five teams received votes to win the annual Marathon MAC Football Championship Game between the winners of the West and East Divisions. The Bobcats garnered 13 votes, while Toledo (5), Northern Illinois (4), Miami (1), and Central Michigan (1) were each featured on ballots.
Head Coach Chris Creighton and the rest of the Eagles will open the 2018 season under the lights at "The Factory" inside Rynearson Stadium Friday, Aug. 31, when the Green and White square off against Monmouth University.
