The Eagles have the opportunity to win nine straight MAC Championships for the first time in conference history

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University men's cross country Head Coach John Goodridge announced the team's 2018 schedule Wednesday, July 11. The Eagles will take part in five regular season meets.

The Green and White opens up its 2018 slate with competition against three Mid-American Conference teams, as EMU treks to Toledo, Ohio to take part in the Toledo Rockets Invitational. There, the Eagles get their first taste of competition against Bowling Green State University, Kent State University, and invitational-host, the University of Toledo.

A week after its opening MAC bout, Eastern stays inside the Mitten to compete in the Detroit Titan Invite, Sept. 8, held in Northville, Mich. The 2018 Titan Invite marks the 32nd year it has taken place, and serves as the fifth consecutive year EMU has taken part in the event.

Eastern Michigan will then take two weeks off of competition before heading to South Bend, Ind. to race in the Notre Dame Invitational, Sept. 28. The invite will be the Eagles' first test against some of the top talent in the nation. They are no strangers to the competition, having participated in the meet annually since 2006.

The Eagles have a week off after their meet in South Bend, before rounding out the regular season with a pair of meets inside the state of Michigan. Following the bye week, Eastern travels to Muskegon, Mich. to participate in the Jayhawk Invitational, Oct. 12, hosted by Muskegon Community College.

EMU closes out the regular season with the annual EMU Fall Classic, Oct. 20, held in Dexter, Mich. This meet will give the team one final opportunity to gain experience before the postseason begins the following weekend.

The Green and White head back to the campus of Toledo for the second time in 2018 for the MAC Championships, Oct. 27. There, the Eagles seek a conference-record-breaking ninth consecutive MAC title, and 23rd overall. The next week will see EMU take on the Great Lakes Regional in Terre Haute, Ind., Nov. 9. If it is able to secure a top-two finish at regionals or be selected as an at-large bid, EMU will earn a trip to compete for the national title at the NCAA Championships, which will be held Nov. 17, in Madison, Wisc. Furthermore, if EMU qualifies to the national championship as a team, it will mark the first time since the 2005 season.
