PENNSAUKEN, N.J. (EMUEagles.com) – With the regular season in the books, the Eastern Michigan University turns its attention to the Colonial Athletic Association Championships Sunday, May 13. The championship regatta will be held on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J. for the second straight year.
Eastern will be up against boats from Delaware, Drexel, Villanova, and defending champions Northeastern. EMU, Delaware, Drexel, and Villanova are all in search of their first titles, while Northeastern has claimed the title seven times.
Last season, the Green and White finished fifth, totaling 11 points. Individually, EMU had a pair of rowers earn All-CAA honors. Then-freshman Amanda Flora (Greenfield, Ind.-Greenfield Central) was named to the All-CAA team, while then-sophomore Baylee Kinkade (Portage, Mich.-Portage Central) was tabbed as EMU's representative on the CAA All-Academic team.
The Eagles enter the weekend as the No. 5 in each of its three races, and will race in lane six. Meanwhile, Northeastern is tabbed as the No. 1 seed in the Varsity 8+ and 2v8, while Drexel holds the top seed in the Varsity 4.
