This will be the last weekend of competition before the MAC Championships, May 10-12
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team closes out the regular season at the Toledo Invitational Thursday-Friday, May 3-4, in Toledo, Ohio. This will be EMU's first time back at the invitational since the 2016 season, after not attending in last year's campaign.
Eastern will undoubtedly look to emulate much of what it did in 2016's version of the invitational, as the Green and White came away with six event titles, 17 top-three placements, and 10 personal records. Three of the event titles captured saw current student-athletes stand atop the podium, as redshirt senior Tyler Brown (Findlay, Ohio-Findlay), senior Brandon Bolden (Solon, Ohio-Solon), and junior Tyler Underwood (Clinton, Mich.-Clinton) each left with some hardware.
Brown brought in one of EMU's two championships in the field events, placing first in the long jump with a distance of 7.08m. The Findlay, Ohio native also played a huge part in Eastern's 4x100m relay victory, as he and Bolden each ran a leg to assist the cohort to a finishing time of 41.00. Underwood earned his title in the 200m dash, where he claimed gold with a time of 22.17.
Action in Ohio is slated to begin Thursday, with discus starting at 1 p.m. The following day begins at 10:30 a.m., opening up competition with javelin and the 5000m run. Fans can follow along via live stats by clicking here, or by following the link listed on the schedule page.
