Eagles Finish Fourth at Dolores Black Falcon Invitational

Senior Thelma Beck improved by five strokes in the second round to tie for 15th

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Senior Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne) tied for 15th and helped the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team to a fourth-place finish Sunday, April 8, at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational on the par 72, 5,960-yard Stone Ridge Golf Club course. Beck, who turned in her fourth top-20 performance of the season, posted a 153 (79-74) to finish nine stokes behind the Ohio University's Emily Hughes at even-par 144 (77-67).
As a team, the Eagles finished with a two-day total of 623 (308-315). The University of Indianapolis shot the lowest round of the day to propel themselves to the title with a total of 600 (306-294). Toledo finished as the runner up (603) while Ohio (621), EMU (623) and Bowling Green (625) rounded out the top five.
Scoring conditions were much improved during Sunday's final round after teams battle chilly temperatures and gusty winds on the opening day. Junior Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval) continued her strong play with her fifth top-25 showing of the year with a 155 (76-79) in a tie for 21st. Freshman Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International) added a 84 during the final round to take 32nd with a 159 (75-84). Rounding out the scoring, sophomore Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford) shaved off six strokes to tie for 70th with a 166 (86-80).
Katelin Lawson (LaSalle, Ontario-Ridge Community-Tampa) tied for 78th with a 169 (89-80) and Kritsuda Apiwatthanadol (Bangkok, Thailand- Somtawin Witead Suska Huaymongkhon School) tied for 88th with a 176 (89-87) while playing as individuak
Eastern Michigan has one week off before traveling to Naperville, Ill., for the Mid-American Conference Championships, April 20-22, at Naperville Country Club.
