FORT  WAYNE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team will compete at the 2018 Mid-American Conference Championship Friday through Sunday, April 27-29, at the Sycamore Hills Golf Club.  Ball State University will host the three-day, 72-hole event for the nine MAC schools which sponsor men's golf – Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami, Northern Illinois, Ohio, and Toledo.

The Green and White will tee off at 8:30 a.m. Friday morning and will be paired with rivals Bowling Green and Toledo. EMU is set to start the second round on the 10th tee. Rounds three and four are set for Saturday and Sunday, respectively, beginning at 8 a.m. Fans can follow all the action via Golfstat Live Scoring.

The league's men's golf championship will be held at the 7,331-yard, par-72 Sycamore Hills Golf Club for the first time ever. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the course was ranked by Golf Digest as one of "America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses".

The Eagles finished seventh at the 2017 MAC Championship, posting a three-day cumulative score of 1,192 (303-293-299-297).  Weather was the story of the weekend with more than nine hours of play wiped off the slate due to Mother Nature during the tournament's 72 holes. Kyle Rodes paced the Green and White with a four-over 292 (69-71-75-77) to finish in eighth-place.

Kent State has won back-to-back MAC Championships, and eight of the last nine.  Eastern Michigan (2007 & 2008) and Miami (2015) are the last two schools besides the Golden Flashes to have won a team title in the past 11 years.

Kent State is ranked No. 30 in Golfstat's national rankings followed by Miami (76), Toledo (110), Eastern Michigan (128), Ball State (140), Northern Illinois (148), Bowling Green (154), Akron (178), and Ohio (237).

Playing this weekend for EMU will be White, junior Beau Breault (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland), freshman Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary), senior Nic Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary),  freshman Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic), and sophomore Zach Sudinsky (McKinney, Texas-Boyd-Stephen F. Austin).

The winner will receive the MAC's automatic bid to one of six NCAA Regional sites May 14-16. The 2018 regional sites are: Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla., Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C., OSU Golf Course in Columbus, Ohio, Reunion Resort in Kissimmee, Fla., The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton, Calif., and Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas.

The NCAA finals are scheduled to begin on May 25 and will be played at Karsten Creek in Stillwater, Okla.
