Eagles Claim Two Race Victories at George Mason Invitational

The CAA finished second in the league standings with 36 points
FAIRFAX, Va. (EMUEagles.com) - A pair of wins highlighted the Eastern Michigan University rowing team's day at the George Mason Invitational Sunday, April 22. The Green and White claimed wins in the C Finals of both the 1V8 and 2V8 races.
As a conference, the Colonial Athletic Association finished second with a total of 36 points. The Big 12 stood atop the league standings with 41 points, while the Atlantic-10 had 31.
Eastern Michigan opened up the day in the third heat of the 1V, where the Eagles went up against CAA foes Villanova and Delaware. The Green and White clocked in with a time of 6:44.9 to take third in an extremely tight race. Going up against West Virginia and Saint Joseph's in the C Final, the 1V clocked in with a time of 6:35.3 to win the race.

After finishing third in the 2V8 CAA heat earlier in the day, EMU made it two wins in-a-row as the Eagles once again one the C Final. The Green and White won the race nearly five seconds ahead of second-place finisher, Old Dominion.

The Eagles' best finish of the morning came in the 2V4, where the Green and White placed second. EMU bested Villanova with a time of 8:08.8, before claiming third in the A Final in the afternoon. Eastern also finished second in the 1V4 C Final, posting a time of 8:01.2, after taking third in the CAA heat in it's first race of the day.

Eastern returns to the water next weekend, April 28, when it travels to East Lansing to take on Michigan State University.
