Gregory signed her National Letter of Intent while Satler will serve as a walk on
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team announced the addition of two incoming recruits in Shannon Gregory (Edison, N.J.-Stevens) and Caitlin Satler (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg), Thursday, April 19. Gregory and Satler will supplement four other incoming freshmen that signed in November during the early signing period, bringing the class of 2022 to a total of six.
Gregory comes to EMU hailing from Edison, N.J., where she performed for Head Over Heels Gymnastics. During her time in N.J., Gregory was an eight-time state qualifier, primarily competing in the all-around. From 2013-2018, Gregory qualified for regionals six times, in addition to competing at the Junior Olympic Nationals in 2016. The incoming freshman will graduate from John P. Stevens High School and plans on studying Neuroscience during her time at EMU.
"Shannon is a strong all-arounder and will bring dynamics to the team," Head Coach Katie Minasola said. "She will add depth to our vault and floor line-ups right away."
The second addition comes from Orland Park, Ill., as Satler competes for United Gymnastics Academy while attending Carl Sandburg High School. With United Gymnastics Academy, Satler competed at nine State Championships, where she most recently finished second in the all-around with a score of 37.450, while placing first in both beam (9.425) and floor (9.575). Walking on to the team this upcoming fall, Satler looks to major in education.
"Caitlin has very polished lines on beam and floor," Minasola added. "She will bring a certain freshness to the team."
Alongside Gregory and Satler in EMU's upcoming freshman class are: Brooke Hylek (Eagle, Mich.), Carly Kosanovich (Moon Twp., Pa.), Charlotte Reynolds (Leominster, Mass.), and Karalyn Roberts (Pinckney, Mich.).
