Junior Nicolle Miranda scattered five hits on the afternoon while striking out two
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - A strong pitching performance by junior Nicolle Miranda (Wilmington, Calif.-Port of Los Angeles) was not enough, as the Eastern Michigan University softball team fell 4-0, to No. 16/17 University of Michigan Tuesday, April 10 at Alumni Field. Miranda (2-15) tossed five innings of five hit, four run ball, while striking out two. Senior Trisha Trujillo (Whittier, Calif.-California) entered the game in relief and tossed the final inning, striking out one.
An Eastern defensive miscue followed by a wild pitch allowed Michigan to plate its first run of the day in the second inning, before they tacked on another run in the third frame to jump to a 2-0 edge over the Green and White.
The score remained that way until the fifth, when a solo shot extended Michigan's advantage to 3-0. Michigan added another in the sixth.
Eastern continues its busy stretch Wednesday, April 11, when the Eagles welcome the Rockets of the University of Toledo for a Mid-American Conference West Division clash. The doubleheader gets underway with a 1 p.m. first pitch.
