Strong Opening Round for EMU at Kingsmill Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team shot a 292 in the opening round of the Kingsmill Intercollegiate Sunday, March 25. The Eagles sit in second-place on the par 70, 6,794 yard Kingsmill Resort River Course, just five strokes behind field leader, Utah Valley University.
Three Eagles are in the top-25 in the field of 127 golfers, as junior Beau Breault (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland) leads all EMU golfers with an even-par 70. Breault is in a four-way tie for fourth and is just two shots behind co-leaders Ariel Elftman-Hanson (UVU), Reed Winkler (Saint Joseph's (Pa.), and Chad Hess (Old Dominion). Breault posted a pair of birdies on No. 1 and No. 15, while tallying an eagle on the par-five seventh hole.
Sophomore Zach Sudinsky (McKinney, Texas-Boyd-Stephen F. Austin) followed with a 73 while freshman Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) added a 74. Freshman Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) is tied for 35th with a 75 and senior Tyler Lewis (Ortonville, Mich.-Brandon-Mott CC) is in 49th with a 76.
EMU returns to the course Monday, March 25, for the second of three rounds.
