Guilleux Paces EMU at 3M Augusta Invitational

The junior finished in a tied for 44th with a three-day tally of 229
AUGUSTA, Ga. (EMUEagles.com) – Junior Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval) improved two shots during the final round Sunday, March 18, but still had to settle for a 44th-place finish at the 3M Augusta Invitational on the par 72, 6,248-yard Forest Hills Golf Club course.
Overall, EMU posted a 54-hole score of 928 (310-304-314), to finish in 14th. Georgia expanded its lead in the win with 291 for a three-day total of 864. No. 21 Purdue and August finished nine strokes back with a score of 873 in second.
Guilleux collected her fifth top-50 showing of the year in the star-studded field. The native of France fired a final round 77 for a total of 229 (73-79-77). Freshman Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International) tied for 54th with a 232 (75-77-80), as UGA's Jillian Hollis won the event with a tournament record eight-under 208 (66-73-69).
Senior Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne) managed an 80 for a three-day tally of 235 (83-72-80) in 66th. Rounding out the scoring for EMU were sophomores Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) and Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford), who finished in 70th and 85th place, respectively.
Playing as an individual, sophomore Katelin Lawson (LaSalle, Ontario-Ridge Community-Tampa) added a 255 (80-88-87) for a tie for 86th.
The Eagles will return to action in a week, March 26-27, at the Henssler Intercollegiate in Kennesaw, Ga.
