Eagles Win the 400 Relay in Season Opener

The 4x100 relay team's time ties for sixth-best in program history

TEMPE, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team completed its first competition of the outdoor season Saturday, March 17, as the Eagles took part in the Baldy Castillo Invite in Tempe, Ariz.
EMU's 4x100 relay team made up of seniors Tyler Brown (Findlay, Ohio-Findlay) and Leighton Antonio (Hudson, Ohio-Hudson), sophomore Tyler Johnson (Dayton, Ohio-Stivers School for the Arts), and freshman Owen Richardson (Basingstoke, England) opened up the season by placing first in a strong pool of competitors, racing to a time of 40.26, which also ties the sixth-best mark in program history.
Johnson also had a career day in his individual event, as he ran to a new personal-best time of 46.98 in the 400m to place fourth. Sophomore Devonte Findlay (Lauderhill, Fla.-Blanche Ely) also had a strong outing in the 110m hurdles, where he matched his personal-best time of 14.63 to rank sixth in the meet.
The Eagles will have a week's rest from competition before they return to action at the Raleigh Relays Friday-Saturday, March 30-31, in Palo Alto, Calif.
