Event for children in elementary school grades is open to the public

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University football team will host its inaugural Youth Day on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 12-1:30 p.m., inside Rynearson Stadium, for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. The event is open to the public and there is no admission charge.

Youth Day is an event that was introduced by Head Coach Chris Creighton back in 1997 when he first arrived at Ottawa University. Its purpose is to give area children an opportunity to visit with the Eagles' student-athletes while enjoying football-related fun and games.

"We are excited to have kids from the area come and meet our team and to have a lot of fun together," said Creighton. "Our team is looking forward to it!"

Kids will have the opportunity to come down onto the "EMU Gray Turf" of The Factory and experience the joy of running around in a safe, fun environment, while learning a few things about the game of football. EMU players will be interacting and encouraging their new friends throughout the event.

Fans can catch Creighton and the rest of the Eagles kick off the 2014 season at home against Morgan State, Aug. 30. Single game and season tickets are now on sale online at EMUEagles.com, by calling 734.487.2282 or by visiting the EMU Ticket Office daily between 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Ticket prices start at just $12 for adults and $5 for youth 12-and-under.
