COLUMBUS, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University senior Zach MacDougall (Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada-Centennial) turned in top-30 showing, placing in a tie for 27th place at the the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, April 14-15. The Coquitlam, British Columbia native carded an 81 in the final round to finish with a 230 (74-75-81).
Battling very gusty conditions on the 7,455 yard, par-71 Scarlet Course at the OSU Golf Club, the Eagles finished in 14th place with a team score of 939 (307-308-324) as No. 18 Kent State University took home the invitational hardware with a 898. SMU finished one stroke back with a 899. SMU's Max Buckley grabbed medalist honors with a seven-over par 220 (73-74-73). There were 15 teams in the field.
Sophomore Brian Churchill-Smith Oakville, Ontario, Canada-Oakville Trafalgar) gave the Eagles another player among the top 40, after carding a 79 to finish tied for 35th with a 232 (76-77-79). Junior Casey Olsen (Okemos, Mich.-Okemos-Oakland University) followed with a 236 (79-80-77) while Derek East (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada-St. Paul's-University of New Orleans) posted a 243 (78-76-89) for 68th place. Freshman John Chaney (Shaker Heights, Ohio-Gimour Academy) rounded out the lineup with a 251 (79-85-87) for 80th place.
Next up for the Head Coach Bruce Cunningham and the Eagles is the Boilermaker Invitational, April 21-22, in West Lafayette, Ind.
