Three boats hit the water for EMU
CLEMSON, S.C. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's rowing team hit the waters of Lake Hartwell in South Carolina this weekend as the squad battled perennial national powerhouse Clemson, along with recent Colonial Athletic Association champions Northeastern University.
The Eagles competed in three races against the stiff competitiors and finished on the back end of each. In the 1st Varsity 8 race, EMU started off well before the opponents began to pull away midway through the race. The Green and White were unable to catch up to Clemson, the winners of the race, and also finished behind Northeastern as well.
In the 2nd Varsity 8, EMU Clemson established early dominance, winning the race in a time of 7:05.72. Northeastern crossed the line second in 7:09.98, while the Eagles were third with a time of 8:16.89.
Clemson and Northwestern each ran multiple boats compared to just one for Eastern Michigan in the Varsity 4 race, as the Eagles would also finish last in that race.
EMU will have two weeks off before competing again, this time for an in-state regatta at Michigan State University on March 26.
