DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team shot a 309 in Sunday's final round at the Spring Break Championships, hosted by FAU. However, it was not enough to move them up the leaderboard, as the team finished in 16th place after carding a 930 (316-305-309) for the event.
Ohio State won the tournament, leading the entire way en route to a 12-under par 852. They held off the surging Florida Atlantic, who finished with a one-under par 863, 11-strokes behind the Buckeyes. Florida Gulf Coast was third with a 867.
Brad Smith of Ohio State won the individual competition with an eight-under par 208 (71-70-67). Florida Gulf Coast's Alex Medinis and Depaul's Moritz Ackerhans were tied for second at 211, three strokes behind Smith.
Nick Carbary (Kalamazoo, Mich.-Mattawan) led the Eagles with a 223 (80-73-70) in a tie for 40th place. Casey Olsen (Okemos, Mich.-Okemos-Oakland University) carded a 80 for a two day total of 233 (75-78-80) in 72nd. The duo is followed by Derek East (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada-St. Paul's-University of New Orleans), who shot a 236 (82-76-78) and is in 75th. Adam Winwood (Epping, Essex, UK-St. Johns-South Mountain CC) placed 78th after posting a 238 (70-78-81). Round out the lineup, Zach MacDougall (Coquitlam, British Columbia-Centennial) shot rounds of 98, 83 and 92 for a 273 in 91st place.
