EMU Student-Athletes Set GPA Record

Eagles post best-ever cumulative GPA of 3.117 after 2010 fall semester
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The latest grade report for the Eastern Michigan University athletics department has been released and the University's 21 sports teams have recorded the best overall cumulative GPA in school history at 3.117 for the 2010 fall semester. The 2010 fall semester GPA of 3.064 is the second-highest semester GPA in school history.
"This outstanding effort is the result of a lot of hard work by our student-athletes as well as the Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS)," EMU Athletics Director Derrick Gragg explained. "It takes an unbelievable amount of time from everyone involved to keep improving our academic success and we will continue to support our student-athletes as they move forward to the ultimate goal of graduating.”
"Our office is thrilled that our student-athletes have turned in another fantastic effort in their academic work," said Erin Burdis, EMU Assistant Athletic Director for Academics. "Obviously, our staff and student-athletes take pride in academic success and this latest report proves that the hard work is worth the effort."
The EMU men's swimming team led all men's teams in fall 2010 with a 3.293 GPA while the best women's GPA was turned in by the women's volleyball team at 3.573.
There were 32 student-athletes that posted 4.0 GPAs during the 2010 fall semester while 302, or 61.5 percent, had 3.0 or better GPAs.
