As a team, EMU is in third place just two strokes behind Boston College
FORT MYERS, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) – Led by junior Meredith Fairbairn's (Orangeville, Ontario, Canada-Westside Secondary School) opening round even-par 72 on Sunday morning, the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team sits in third place on the 15-team leaderboard at the 34th Annual Pat Bradley Invitational on the Pelican Preserve Golf Club.
Entering Monday's second round, Fairbairn sits in a two-way tie for first place on the 80-player leaderboard alongside Florida Gulf Coast's Fabienne Haremza.
The Eagles concluded the tournament's opening round with a team score of 302. The Green and White are two strokes back of leader place Boston College and one shot behind North Texas.
Alyssa Kwon (Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada-Richmond Hill) cracked the top five with score of 74 to place her in a tie for fourth overall, three shots ahead of classmate Rushda Mallick's (Cape Town, South Africa-Glenwood House-Cape Peninsula University of Technology) 77, which was good for a split of 20th. With an opening-round 79, Sarah Johnson (Wixom, Mich.-Walled Lake Central) finished the first round in a tie for 38th. Rounding out the lineup, Shannon Warner (Livonia, Mich.-Livonia Churchill-Michigan State) is in a tie for 51st with an 81.
Competing as an individual, sophomore Corey Crossan (London, Ontario, Canada-Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School) opened the event with a score of 79, to sit in a share of 38th heading into the second round of play.
The Eagles will return to the course for Monday's second round beginning at 9 a.m.
