Senior picks up the academic honor for the second time in her career
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Mid-American Conference announced its 2010 Gymnastics All-MAC Academic squad Wednesday afternoon, April 28, and EMU senior gymnast Erin Grigg (North Bay, Ontario-Widdifield) was named to the team for the second time in her career.
A total of 10 student-athletes were named to the team. The number of honorees on the Academic All-MAC Team is the number that is set for the specific sport or 33 percent of the number of nominees, whichever is greater.
Grigg competed in every meet for the Eagles during the 2010 season and was named the MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week, March 22, for the third time in her career. She earned an alternate bid to compete at the Lexington Regional on the balance beam and as an all-around performer. Grigg scored a season best 9.825 on the vault at Ball State University, March 21. The senior carded a season-best 9.750 on the bars at Ball State, March 21, and registered a season-best 9.825 in the floor exercise at Ball State, March 21. Grigg also recorded a season-best 9.625 on the balance beam at home against Central Michigan University, Jan. 30. She earned MAC Gymnast of the Week honors, Feb. 16, for the first time in her career after leading EMU to a win over Western Michigan University.
