A Statement from EMU Athletics Director Derrick Gragg

Yesterday afternoon, our Men's Basketball Team completed its most successful season in twelve years with a hard fought double overtime loss to Akron in the Quarterfinal of the Mid American Conference Tournament.

Near the end of the game tempers flared on both sides, which can happen at the conclusion of such a hard fought contest. The concluding moments of yesterday's men's basketball game included some unfortunate language that was broadcast as part of the coverage. This occurred in the heat of a hotly contested game with extreme emotions on both sides, and is not representative of the professionalism of Eastern Michigan University Athletics. However, while regrettable, this should not take away from the phenomenal effort our Team gave yesterday afternoon in Cleveland.

Our Men's and Women's Basketball Teams combined to have the most successful seasons they have ever enjoyed together and, the future is bright. Our Women's team finished with a 22-8 season record and return all five starters next year.

We look forward to the continued renaissance of both of our Basketball Programs.

Patiently waiting for year 2 Fer👀
