Rowing Wraps Up Action at MACRA Regatta

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. – Coming off a solid performance in the Indianapolis Invitational, the Eastern Michigan University rowing team put up impressive times at the 45th Annual MACRA Regatta Saturday, May 2, at the Bass River Quarry.
In the J. Clark Wray Cup varsity eight race, the Eagles finished fifth overall in a time of 6:43.02, just besting Northwestern University, who finished sixth with a time of 6:57.43. Grand Valley State University won the race with an impressive time of 5:51.30, followed by Mercyhurst College (6:10.62), Michigan State University (6:41.83), and the Ohio State University (6:42.39).
In the varsity four race, the Eagles finished fifth overall with a time of 6:55.13, behind Ohio State University (6:47.62), Michigan State University (6:22.47), Northwestern University (6:17.62), and champion University of Chicago boat, who won the heat in a time of 6:09.60.
The Eagles had another impressive time in the women's varsity eight race, taking third overall with a time of 6:52.78. EMU finished just behind Grand Valley State University (6:45.47) and heat winner Mercyhurst College, who placed first with a time of 6:36.60.
In the second-team varsity eight race, the Eagles placed fourth in a time of 7:13.85.
The Eagles are idle until May 16-17 when they head to Oak Ridge, Tenn. for the South/Central Sprints.
