Rowing Concludes Day One Action at South/Central Sprints

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – After a short delay due to fog, the Eastern Michigan University rowing team finally got some sunny weather at the 13th Annual South/Central Sprints in Oak Ridge, Tenn., as the Eagles registered solid times against some of the country's top teams.

The Eagles placed fourth in the varsity eight semifinal, finishing with a time of 6:42.60. Finishing ahead of EMU was Miami (6:35.20), the University of Texas Longhorns (6:29.60), and the University of Tennessee Volunteers, who claimed the top spot with a time of 6:18.10.

In the second varsity eight semifinal, the Eagles placed fourth with a time of 7:07.00, behind Miami (6:46.70), Kansas State University (6:45.21), and the University of Central Florida, who took home the top spot with a time of 6:34.60.

The Eagles wrap up action tomorrow with a pair of races. First, the EMU second varsity 8 boat will take on Southern Methodist University at 9:10 a.m. in the D Final. The Eagles conclude the South/Central Sprints with the University of Alabama Crimson Tide in the Varsity 8 D Final at 9:20 a.m.
