Grigg and Moss End Season at Regionals

Grigg tallied an all-around score of 38.250, while Moss carded a 9.775 on the beam.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Senior Maureen Moss (Gurnee, Ill.-Warren Township) and junior Erin Grigg (North Bay, Ontario-Widdifield) competed in the 2009 NCAA Gymnastics Central Regional Saturday, April 4, at St. John Arena on the campus of the Ohio State University. The two gymnasts represented EMU well, as Grigg tallied an all-around score of 38.250 (16th place), while Moss carded a 9.775 on the beam in her final collegiate competition.
Moss competed on the balance beam in the first rotation, posting a 9.775 score to finish third overall in her rotation. Moss had a stellar season for the Eagles on the balance beam, recording a career-best 9.825 at CMU, March 14.
In the second rotation, Grigg carded a 9.775 in the floor exercise, but bounced back in the third rotation, as she recorded a 9.850 on the vault.
In the fifth rotation, Grigg scored a 9.525 on the bars, and in the sixth and final rotation of the night, she tallied a 9.100 on the balance beam, finishing in 16th place with an all-around score of 38.250.
The Tigers of Louisiana State University captured the team title, edging out the Beavers of Oregon State Universitiy by .075 to seal the win. LSU won the regional title with a 196.875, while Oregon State scored a 196.800. Both teams advanced to the national championship, April 16-18, in Lincoln, Neb.
The top two teams and all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) for each region received an automatic bid to the national championship in Lincoln, Neb. April16-18, hosted by the University of Nebraska. Also, the event winners advanced (in that event only) if they were not part of a qualifying team or the all-around qualifiers.
