Senior guard named West Division Player of the Week
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University senior point guard Carlos Medlock (Detroit, Mich.-Murray Wright) has been named Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week, Nov. 30, after leading the Eagles to two wins last week.
The 6-foot Medlock is the second Eagle to win the weekly award this season. Teammate Brandon Bowdry (St. Louis, Mo.-Taylor (Mich.) Truman) won the West Division honor, Nov. 16.
Medlock helped the Eagles win an 86-76 non-conference game at Southeast Missouri State University, Nov. 28, and followed that up with a great overall performance in a come-from-behind 76-66 non-conference win over Davenport University, Nov. 30.
Against SEMO, Medlock scored seven points with eight assists and six rebounds. He followed that effort up with a career-best 32 points to go along with four rebounds, four steals and four assists in the win over Davenport.
Trailing by six, 66-60, with just 3:30 left in the Davenport game, Medlock took over for the Eagles, scoring 10 of EMU's 16 points down the stretch to pull off the victory.
Medlock connected on 8-of-15 field goals, 5-of-10 three-point attempts, and 11-of-12 free throws against Davenport. His 32 points was not only a personal best, but was also the 11th best single-game scoring effort in the Convocation Center.
Medlock and the Eagles are slated to get back into action tonight, Nov. 30, hosting Canisius College in a 7 p.m. game in the Convocation Center.
