Eagle Women Fall To Purdue At Home
Purdue proves too much in non-conference action at Jones Natatorium.

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women’s swimming and diving team fell to unbeaten Purdue University, 223-100, in non-conference action at Jones Natatorium Saturday afternoon, Nov. 14.

 

After a stellar day one by Briana Emig, the freshman followed it up with three top-three finishes on Saturday. Emig turned in a second place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, a third place tally in the 400 IM and she helped the 400-yard free relay team to a first place finish.

 

Senior Leeza Moser took home the win in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:31.96 and placed second in the 200-yard backstroke. Junior Sarah Kowalski placed third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.58 while junior Elisa Torres and sophomore Samantha Nameth finished second and third, respectively, in the 100-yard butterfly.

 

The Eagles swept the podium in the 200-yard breaststroke with senior Sheila Carson taking the win with a time of 2:23.13 while senior Chelsea Allard and freshman Lauren Kalinoski followed closely behind. Freshman Danielle Hulvey placed second behind Purdue’s Erin Mertz in the three-meter dive.

 

Eastern Michigan will be back in action in two weeks when the Eagles host the annual EMU Invitational at Jones Natatorium Dec. 4-5.
