Eagles Finish Fourth at Notre Dame Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's cross country ran well Friday afternoon, Oct. 2, at Burke Golf Course for the Notre Dame Invitational, as the Eagles placed fourth overall as a team with 160 total points.

True freshman Courtney Calka (Livonia, Mich.-Stevenson) continued to impress in her freshman campaign as the Eagles' top runner, as she placed sixth overall with a time of 17:56. Calka finished just behind Fresno State University's Roxanne Sellick, who rounded out the top five with a time of 17:54.

Junior Beverly Elcock (Fort Wayne, Ind.-Northrop) and sophomore Rachcel Hollinger-Janzen (Goshen, Ind.-Goshen) were the next two EMU harriers to cross the finish line, as Elock placed 33rd with a time of 18:41, while Hollinger-Janzen took 34th place with a time of 18:43.

Freshman Tiffany Kincaid (Clarkston, Mich.-Clarkston) was the next Eagle to cross the finish line, placing 37th with a time of 18:50, while sophomore Natalie Webb (Allen Park, Mich.-Woodhaven) finished in 55th place at 19:08.

Wisconsin Oshkosh's Ayla Mitchell took home the individual title with a time of 17:31, while Grand Valley State University won the team title, accumulating just 48 points to best runner-up Dayton (104 points).

The Eagles have another idle week before they send two squads out to separate meets, Oct. 17. The Eagles will travel several runners down the road to Bowling Green, Ohio for the Falcon Invitational, while other runners will head to Terra Haute, Ind. for the Pre-NCAA Meet.
