Welcome to the EMU Athletic Club website and thank you to everyone who helped make 2006-2007 a record breaking fundraising year for EMU Athletics.
I am excited to report that we had 1,250 donors in fiscal year 2007 (July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2007). This marked a 52.9% increase over fiscal year 2006 when there were 817 donors. More importantly, we set a new record for cash and gifts in kinds raised in a single year with a total of $715,302 being contributed, an increase of 30.2% over last year. The previous record was $705,241 which was set in 1993!
We are extremely appreciative of everyone who stepped up in support of our program and we hope that many more will continue to do so in the years ahead. Your generosity has a direct, positive impact on the quality of experience we provide to our talented student-athletes.
Our athletic programs accomplished some extraordinary achievements last year, including a school and MAC record eight Conference championships. In addition, three Eagles earned first-team Academic All-American honors, six were Academic All-District, 10 were selected for the prestigious weekly MAC Scholar-Athlete Award, and a school-record 35 Eagles were singled out for first-team Academic All-MAC honors.
Going forward, in order for us to reach an even greater level of success, we must grow the numbers of those who are supporting our efforts each and every year. Whether we are Normals, Hurons, or Eagles, now is the time for us to come together in the common cause of supporting EMU student-athletes as they pursue excellence on the field and in the classroom. By making a gift through the EMU Athletic Club to the team of your choice, or to our Eagles for Excellence Fund, which supports the most urgent needs of the athletic department, you will make a real difference in the lives of our student-athletes.
